My leadership style is operating through loyalty. Nothing in the world matters as much to me as loyalty. You need people you can trust and know have your back in tough situations. Cultivating a leadership where you treat you team as equals and not servants makes working so much easier. It’s not hard to show a little humility here and there, but when you do it makes people see you more on their level and as a human. Not just some figure they have to abide by. We could all take a not in humility now and again. Reach out, talk to your people, help them, ask for help. You will build a better team and a better work environment.
I have worked with many people, at many jobs, and more often than not the manager or person in charge doesn’t treat employees like people, but just tools. They bark orders and don’t take the time to talk and explain issues with employees. I could never do this when I held manager positions. You must work with your team, if you don’t properly train an employee then how can you expect them to know how to operate?
I once worked at Best buy and we had 3 managers, you’d think at least one of them would know how to manage a business correctly. But they were all the same, rude, arrogant, and selfish when it came to the employees. Because of this the turnover rate for employees was extremely high and sales were very low. Had one of them known about the rules of been a leader I’m sure the store wouldn’t have been in such bad shape. When all you’re focused on is your paycheck, quality suffers. You must know how to work with your people and your customers if you want to be an effective leader.
